We are one family, bonded together and sent to change conditions that breed poverty, injustice, discrimination and marginalization.

We care for one another. Caring gives birth to covenant relationships ―empathy, friendship, tenderness, compassion, mercy, unconditional love and deep respect.

The power of growth is in relationship where in every encounter we are both giver and receiver. We value ‘power with’ vs ‘power over’

Belief in the capacity to rise beyond one’s struggles.

Our Spirituality leads to personal transformation and transformation of the world.

We live what we believe that we are sent to those who have neither voice nor influence in this world.

April 21, 2025 RIP POPE FRANCISWith deep reverence and hearts full of prayer, we join the globalcommunity in mourning the passing of Pope Francis, a humble shepherd who walked closely with the people, especially those on the margins. His return to God reminds us of the sacred journey we all share—rooted in faith, guided by compassion, and called toward transformation. As members of the Little Sisters of the Assumption Family in Mission, we reflect on Pope Francis’ life through the lens of our call to become One Family by the living of our core values: Commitment, Transformation, Care, Mutuality, Hope, and Believe. His leadership embodied these principles in profound ways, challenging us to live with courage, to care for all creation, to commit to justice, and to hope even in the face of despair. We fondly remember a highlight of Pope Francis’ 2015 visit to East Harlem. The excitement, deep joy and enthusiasm of Sr. Susanne Lachapelle and the local community was palpable and unifying.Pope Francis had a special place in his heart for the Little Sisters of the Assumption and their mission. The knowledge of this love encourages and inspires us to continue to bear witness to our Spiritual Covenant in our everyday lives:"Building on our experience of creating Family, we are connected by a desire to transform our world beginning in our local communities. We commit to learning from and joining with the global movement for social justice. We are one with allcreation. We partner with and celebrate the diversity of all those who journey with us."May Pope Francis rest in God's eternal peace. May his enduring spirit continue to guide and inspire us in our shared mission. To know more factual details of our close bonds with Pope Francis from his birth, please click of the following link for some great articles about one of our Irish Sisters who was the first to care for him while serving in Argentina!bit.ly/4jnO73vRosario Jiménez, DirectorLSA Family in Mission Little Sisters of the Assumption, U.S. Region ... Testimonials

Philipp Kappestein

When I read the mission statement of the Little Sisters of the Assumption, I found it expressed my own sentiments when it said, “We bring together the least advantaged and the privileged in a spirit of family to inspire everyone to participate in creating a just society.”
